General jewellery care rules:
Remove your jewellery before bathing, swimming, exercising, or cleaning.
Avoid direct contact with perfumes, lotions, oils, make-up, or household chemicals.
Use the soft polishing cloth provided (or a similar non-abrasive cloth) to gently clean your jewellery when necessary. This helps maintain its shine and prevents build-up.
Keep your jewellery in the box or pouch provided, stored in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Storing each piece separately will help prevent scratches and tangling.
Silk Butterflies:
Wear your butterfly jewelry with care. Avoid using it with heavy outerwear.
To restore the original 3D shape of the wings, gently press together each row of wings, starting with the smaller ones(two wings at a time, left and right).
They can be gently hand-washed if needed. After washing, lay them flat to dry, and if necessary, iron them on low heat to refresh their shape.
This means that wearing your butterfly jewelry or hair accessories in the rain or encountering light makeup stains will not cause damage.
Fossils, Shells & Pearls:
Shells, pearls, and fossils are natural materials that react differently to various products and environments. Therefore, it’s important to keep them away from chemicals, water, and prolonged exposure to sunlight.
By treating these unique components with care, you ensure they maintain their luster and last for generations.
Beetles:
Beetle shells are naturally sturdy and durable. They come from edible beetles sourced from various tribes and restaurants, where they are cooked in different ways. After the inside is consumed, the outer shell is sent to us in pieces. Upon receiving them, we clean and disinfect each part using a specialized taxidermy cleaning process, then bake them again at 220°C to harden the clay used to fill the insects bodies. Considering that most body components are no larger than 0.5 mm (except the wings), after all of the mentioned steps, the resulting jewelry is exceptionally resilient.
As natural materials, beetle shells react differently to environmental factors and products. To maintain their beauty, it’s essential to protect your beetle jewelry from chemicals and water.
When necessary, gently wipe the insects/wings with a soft, slightly damp cloth.
For tougher dirt, use a mild soap diluted in lukewarm water applied carefully with a cotton swab.
After cleaning, pat dry gently with a soft towel and allow the piece to air dry completely before storing.
Beaded jewelry:
Most of our beaded jewelry has a base made from ultrasuede, making it especially important to keep it away from water to prevent damage or deformation. The beads themselves have a permanent top finish, so their color will not fade or wear off over time.
Only if necessary, gently wipe the beads with a soft, slightly damp cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a mild soap diluted in lukewarm water applied carefully with a small brush to the beads only – avoid soaking or wetting the ultrasuede base. Or use a dry soft brush or cotton swab to clean in between beads gently.
After cleaning, pat dry with a soft towel and lay with the shell side down to air dry completely before storing.
